Today, May 17th, Fortnite servers went down on all platforms (PC, Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, Android). The maintenance work will be used to load the 24.40 update onto the servers.

What’s happening in Fortnite today? Epic Games is shutting down the servers for Season 2 Chapter 4. According to the developers, the update will implement the new ranked mode. In addition, some leakers believe that new skins and a possible live event might be in the data. What new content does update 24.40 bring?

- Material limits are reduced from 999 to 500.
- Mining speed will be slightly increased.
- Players drop 50 of each material when eliminated
- The damage of the targeting pistol and thunder spears has been increased.
- Increased the lock-on pistol’s acquisition speed, as well as its rate of fire between salvos.
- Thunderspears now explode faster when the fuse is lit.
- The Storm Forecast reality augment has been vaulted for use in tournaments.
Major bug fixes in 24.40
- Improvements will continue to be made as some large rocks on the Battle Royale island are not awarding as many materials as intended.
- Fixed a bug that prevented players from being healed with Slurp Juice following going down.
- Back Bling equipped with the Clone Trooper Outfit no longer appear detached.
- The clone trooper outfit’s head movement will no longer be blocked.
- Fixed a bug that caused some outfits to be shiny.
Trios have been removed: Epic Games decided to move the “Trio” mode to the vault in all modes. Whether this is temporary or permanent is unclear.
Fortnite: Server Down – When and how long are they offline?
This is the downtime in the morning: According to Epic Games, the servers are expected to shut down at 9:00 a.m. German time. Matchmaking is already deactivated 30 minutes beforehand, so you can no longer search for new rounds following 8:30 a.m.
When can you play once more? This is a major update. It is therefore likely that Epic Games might restart the servers at 11:00 a.m. or even at 1:00 p.m. But that is not confirmed.
When are the patch notes coming? Epic Games usually posts a short list of patch notes on their site following the update. If that happens, we will list them briefly and clearly for you here.

Epic Games reveals little to no new information regarding upcoming content before a new update.
