Researchers Under Fire is the name of an event in the patch 10.1 de Dragonflight. It takes place in the center of the Zaralek cave and takes place at fixed times (2:30 p.m.). The objective is to help researchers by accomplishing several objectives. You’ll mostly spend time slaying powerful monsters, and the more objectives you complete, the better the rewards. 1. Researchers under fire
There are two events:
- Titans Containment
- Investigations in the Zaqalis Ruins
Each event has its own missions which require defending the central area, which represents the camp of the researchers, and accomplishing objectives in the surrounding area.
2. Unfolding of the scenarios
Both scenarios last roughly 25 minutes at most and consist of completing a dozen objectives. The monsters are powerful and if you’re alone in the area, you won’t last long. NPCs can help you, but they won’t be enough to help you complete the objectives.
This means for example that if you fail to kill the first patrols that will attack the camp, the event will stop and you will have to learn the next one.
Among the objectives to be fulfilled, we find for example:
- Shoot down three patrols circling the camp.
- Bulk kill enemies to fill a progress bar to 100%.
- Collect items from the ground and bring them to a central console.
- Kill specific enemies.
- Repair 4 pillars.
- Defend an NPC by fending off waves of enemies.
- Kill the final boss, Captain Reykal.
3. Awards
Rewards mainly take three forms:
- Gift from the researchers : NPCs reward you for your help by giving you a bag that can contain different items.
- De l’or
- Supplies from the Dragon Islands
- Flying Stones
- Reputation towards the Flairans of Terreau
- Equipment (ilvl 389 in particular, but it can probably go higher)
- “Unearthed Fragrant Coin” to be exchanged at a merchant. He will give you Shadowflame Shield Fragments, which are used to upgrade equipment.
- Drops
- The final boss, Reykal, can drop equipment ilvl 395, Stones of Flight
- Achievements
- There are several achievements and a meta achievement to be validated.
The more goals you complete, the better the rewards. To take a simple example, you can thus obtain +250 or +500 reputation points towards the Scents of Earth.
