Patagonian governors meet on Thursday in Puerto Madryn to establish a common position
The governors of the Patagonian provinces will meet next Thursday in the Chubut city of Puerto Madryn to present “a common agenda” before national legislators from the southern districts, following the intersections maintained with the national government over co-participatory funds, and following the call to sign the May Pact, made yesterday by President Javier Milei. The intention of the meeting, to which Milei was formally invited, is to unify criteria linked to the region that is a supplier of energy, mineral, tourism, fishing, fruit, wool and meat resources, among others; and the emphasis will also be placed on renewable energies and “green hydrogen” that represent potential for the region.
The summit was confirmed following the strong counterpoint that some governors maintained, particularly that of Chubut, Ignacio Torres, with the national government, for the shared resources, and following the call made last night by Milei to sign on May 25 in the province of Córdoba a “founding pact” that will consist of ten guidelines to “establish the conditions of Argentine progress”, and will be subject to prior approval of the so-called “Bases Law” and a new fiscal pact.
One of the organizers of the meeting, the national senator for Chubut Edith Terenzi (UCR), confirmed the presence of the six governors of Patagonia: Torres (Chubut), Sergio Ziliotto (La Pampa), Rolando Figueroa (Neuquén), Alberto Wereltineck ( Río Negro), Claudio Vidal (Santa Cruz) and Gustavo Melella (Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands).
