Of the 90 new masters in the agricultural training field, the “masters of the year” were also honored in various categories. In addition to a special performance during the examination by a committee, the criteria for this are outstanding performance and visionary goals for your own family business. A high-calibre jury recently awarded Michael Ehrenleitner from Scharnstein in the fisheries management category and Theresa Schreiber from Aurach in rural business and household management as champions of the year.
Theresa Schreiber grew up on a dairy farm with direct marketing and forestry. Since she was not intended to be the successor to the court, she completed her training as a kindergarten and following-school teacher. She and her husband decided to reactivate their husband’s family farm in Aurach, which had been leased since the late 1980s. In 2016, the leases were terminated, and then the agricultural skilled worker examination was taken. In May 2018, the first eleven Merino ewes moved into the farm. Nine hectares of meadows are currently cultivated and 35 ewes are kept. The lambs are marketed directly from the farm.
In his master’s thesis on the subject of “Approval and expansion of the Kronawitter fish farm”, Scharnsteiner Michael Ehrenleitner examined his own business in detail. He and his wife Johanna run their farm full time and share their passion for fish farming with visitors. The love for nature and sustainable fishing is evident in every phase of their work, the jury also noted. Ehrenleitner sees itself as an ambassador for nature and a pioneer for sustainable and high-quality fish products.
Incidentally, the master craftsman’s examination in his training area fisheries management can only be taken in Upper Austria nationwide.
