When you come from such a cinema clan, it’s hard not to pass this universe on to your children! And for Dimitri Rassam, born from the union between producer Jean-Pierre Rassam and actress Carole Bouquet, and who counts producers Paul Rassam, Claude Berri and Thomas Langmann in his family, the question begins to arise: how to transmit to Darya (12 years old) and Balthazar (5 years old), his two children, this love for this profession and for this environment?

By the films he produces, perhaps… or not! While Miladythe second part of Three Musketeers, was released this Wednesday, December 13 in theaters – which had a very good start – Charlotte Casiraghi’s husband explained that their little boy, still very young, was not really passionate regarding his dad’s work. “My son Balthazar hasn’t seen it yet. It’s not his age“, he confided to Gala.

Fortunately, certain other films speak to him more, while waiting for him to mature: “He loves the great animated classics. In the cinema, I like watching him, seeing his eyes widen, getting into the story. One day he will see The three Musketeers and I hope he will be lenient with me. With children, you have to share and pass on your passions but also let them develop their own tastes, their own worlds. For my part, I was not forced to love cinema. It was contagious“.

Darya in his footsteps

And what regarding Darya, the eldest in the family? Born from a first marriage, the teenager is a little more receptive than her little brother to their famous dad’s films: “She saw The three Musketeers then she went to see him once more with her friends. This film appeals to all generations…“, he explains, proud of his offspring, whom he still accompanied this summer to see the big success of the year.

I saw Barbie with Darya, my daughter. After the session, she happily trolled me for an hour. I really felt like Ken. She is 12 years old and she is starting to do without her parents’ authorization on her cultural choices.“, he said with humor. Discreet, will the young girl follow her father into the cinema? Anything is possible!

A prolific family

It must be said that Dimitri Rassam himself received this passion from his family. And strangely, not from his mother, who is nevertheless one of the greatest actresses in French cinema: “My mother rarely took my brother and me on set. She was very protective of us. Above all, she passed on to us her passion for culture. We went to the theater, to concerts, to see exhibitions. I am grateful to him because these are emotions that remain“, he remembers in fact. Nor his father, who died when he was only four years old… but his uncle Paul, who notably participated in the film Apocalypse Now.

The man who took care of me a lot during my childhood was my uncle Paul. It is a lineage from uncle to nephew. I was lucky to have the parents I have. To see my mother, my uncles, my cousin loving cinema, being happy in their profession, it was galvanizing. Today I feel like I’m where I wanted to be.“. A beautiful conclusion, which will undoubtedly be important to his children!
