(CNN) Two passenger planes flying over Northern Europe recently made an unexpected turn in the air. It was a consideration for all passengers to appreciate the beautiful sight of the aurora.
The aurora is a natural phenomenon, and some tourists pay high prices to join tours just to see it.
But passengers on easyJet flight 1806 from Reykjavik, Iceland to Manchester, England and Finnair flight 488 from Kuusamo, Finland to Helsinki, both enjoyed the light show within the limits of their airfare. Aircraft-tracking sites captured both planes making small circles in the air.
“Thanks to the Captain of Finnair Flight 488 for making an unplanned 360-degree turn tonight in the skies for all the passengers to enjoy this magic.” One passenger wrote on Twitter on February 26.
The next day, on the 27th, easyJet Flight 1806 circled the skies for passengers to see the Northern Lights.
A male passenger who was on board with his family took a picture of the view from the window. The crew turned off the lights in the plane so that all passengers might see the aurora, he said.
“We were all excited because many people had never seen it before. We were lucky enough to see it twice on our way to Iceland. The man said so in an interview with CNN.
EasyJet said in a statement that it “controlled and maneuvered the aircraft so that passengers might appreciate the spectacular aurora spectacle created by nature.”
It is said that the crew was calling on passengers not to miss the opportunity to take pictures, and one Finnair passenger said, “It’s a pity that I didn’t have a proper camera.” Posted on Twitter.
