Passenger traffic at Dubai airports is rising, but still far from 2019

Dubai airports witnessed a significant jump in the number of passengers during the current year, and despite that, they are still below pre-Corona levels.

Dubai Airports expects to receive regarding 64 million passengers during the current year, following a strong performance starting from the second half of this year, but this level is regarding 22 million passengers less than the rates achieved by the airport during 2019.

Dubai airports had received 86.4 million passengers during the year before Corona, and rates remained on the rise without being affected until the first quarter of 2020.

The airport received regarding 18.5 million passengers during the third quarter of 2022, marking the first time that the number of passengers in three months reached pre-pandemic levels, as the airport received approximately 17.8 million passengers during the first quarter of 2020 before the start of the global pandemic.

Dubai Airports operates and develops two airports in Dubai: Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai World Central.

Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, said: “We have witnessed a strong performance this year and a steady rise in passenger numbers, exceeding our expectations.”
