When going by plane, unexpected situations may arise that are out of the hands of the crew members. Such was the recent case of a Delta Air Lines flight from the Bahamas to Atlanta (United States), which had to be diverted due to bad weather.
Lizzy Phillips, who was on the plane with her family, told the network WJCL that her daughter had to use a bag to relieve herself in the hallway. This is because the bathrooms were full of water and waste.
Bad weather conditions forced the plane to land at Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport, a domestic airport located in Savannah, Georgia.
Consequently, the flight ended up stuck on the airport runway as the cabin crew needed to be replaced and the passengers had to be processed by customs.
“This was only supposed to be a one-and-a-half hour flight, so you’re not bringing a ton of snacks and food onto the plane,” Phillips stated. At a certain point, there was no water or food left.

“I can’t believe there isn’t a protocol for situations like this,” he added, indicating that he had never thought things might go so wrong.
Delta Air Lines said in a statement that the flight was diverted to Savannah due to “inclement weather.”
“The limited accessibility of the airport customs agents resulted in the flight crew not being authorized to allow customers to leave the aircraft for an extended period of time,” said the company, which had to apologize for what happened. .
The aforementioned media reported that the US Department of Transportation is already aware of the case and that they will investigate what happened to determine whether or not the airline should be sanctioned.
