Pashinyan announced the “failure” of the CSTO

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the response of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) to Azerbaijan’s invasion in May 2021 is a failure. He said this during a speech in the country’s parliament.

Pashinyan noted that, in general, the events on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the Sotk-Khoznavar section are a failure of the Armed Forces and the government of his country.

“But the reaction of the CSTO to these events, I think, is a failure for the Organization as well,” he said.

He added that the CSTO has not yet made a decision on monitoring the site. This justifies the concern of the Armenian society that at the right moment the CSTO will do nothing, but will only observe, Pashinyan said.

He added that Azerbaijani units still remain in this area and pose a threat to the security of Armenia.
