Natalia Partyka is an absolutely outstanding figure for Polish Paralympic sport – the table tennis player made her debut at the games 20 years ago in Athens and since then there has been no event of similar rank from which she did not return with medals.
It was no different during the Paralympic Games in Paris – Partyka first won the bronze medal in doubles together with Karolina Pęk, and then advanced to the semi-finals of the WS10 singles – this meant another sure bronze for her, one of two given away in this competition. The 35-year-old, however, obviously had a much greater sporting appetite.

On September 3, the Gdańsk player approached the clash with the Taiwanese representative Shiau-wen Tian. The match started off perfectly for her, as Partyka won the first set 11:6. Then it was even better, because in the second set, with our player’s 11 points, her opponent won exactly five “points”.
Tian, however, finally managed to wake up – and in the third set she was the one who was on top with the score 11:8 – so the fight at the table started to get more and more fierce. The Taiwanese player followed up in the next part of the struggle, winning 14:12 and everything was decided by set number five. Here Natalia Partyka won 11:8 and the whole match 3:2 – so she showed great fortitude acting under pressure.
The winner will therefore face Qian Yang (Australia), who defeated Bruna Alexandre (Brazil) in her semi-final, in the fight for gold. The clash will take place on Wednesday, September 4, at the same time as the semi-finals – that is, at 1:45 p.m.
The Paralympic Games in Paris will last until Sunday
The table tennis competition at the 2024 Paralympic Games will last until September 7, the penultimate day of the event. This coming Saturday, at the very end of the competition, fans will have the opportunity to watch five more matches, with the highest laurels at stake.
Natalia Partyka had already won 10 IP medals before she started competing in Paris, six of which were made of the most precious metal. The most successful competition for the sportswoman from Pomerania was in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, when she won gold in both singles and doubles.
