Party Animals: The Hilarious and Cute Multiplayer Game Perfect for Game Pass Subscribers

If you were to ask me what the perfect type of game would be to launch on Game Pass, I would suggest Party Animals without a doubt. This cute and hilarious multiplayer game is the next evolution of Gang Beasts, as it combines goofy mini-games with a physics engine that makes it feel as if you’re controlling a sack of potatoes with your legs. It’s a cuter title than Gang Beasts, however, as the game also features a collection of stuffed animal-like characters ranging from corgis to gorillas, moose to ducks, pigs to dinosaurs, and more. On the face of it, this seems like an unlikely recipe for failure, and from my time playing the game at Gamescom this year, I can add that Party Animals is becoming a must-play for Game Pass subscribers made. I had the chance to play Party Animals for about 20 minutes at Microsoft’s closed-doors booth during the German trade show. The meeting had me and three other journalists or Xbox team members form a team, pitting us against a similar four-person team. From here, we entered a series of game modes, one of which can best be described as last animal standing, and another a small round of football. For the Last Animal Standing mode, the idea is to leave one of your team members as the last animal in a very small arena littered with silly items that you can pick up and use to Hit the heads of other animals. The arena is also slightly elevated, which means you can fall off and be challenged to have to climb back before a battle royale-like fog engulfs your character and forces you to watch until the next round begins. With the ability to catch and throw other animals, and having to dodge hazards and bombs to watch animals throw at you, this game mode comes across as very hectic with little strategy, all because the Party Animals control scheme is a Challenging design options. Here’s an ad: As I mentioned before, like Gang Beasts, the animals feel like they’re top-heavy. This means they’re not the easiest to control, but it’s a fundamental design choice for Party Animals, since you shouldn’t have complete control over these creatures. If anything, it feels more like you’re controlling someone in a mascot suit, because it’s all pretty clumsy and silly, but it all adds to the game’s charm, and it makes it all the more hilarious and entertaining. Looking at the other game modes I’ve had a chance to play, this is where teamwork feels more important. Unlike the last animal stand-up mode, soccer mode relies on teamwork, and we as a team have to arrange ourselves so that we can efficiently move the ball up and score while dodging the other side. Don’t expect FIFA-level tactics here, as there’s no defined pass button etc., instead you just run up to the ball and throw yourself to generate some momentum and blast it off the field. It helps that both game modes are “best” scenarios, since the Party Animals round doesn’t seem to last very long. It’s fast-paced, and if you’re not paying attention, you can find yourself moving very fast on the audience screen. While both game modes were fun, some of the highlights of the session came after the round. In the award scene celebrating the winner, the two teams collided and started throwing each other for the best position to take a photo to mark the occasion. It’s similar to what Media Molecule created in Little Big Planet at the end of the level, it just allows all players to relax and go crazy without any repercussions. Here’s an ad: It does feel like Recreate Games is the Party Animals winner. It’s goofy and funny, delightful and cute, and has flawless ease of use, meaning you can just jump in and bash a few rounds without getting too familiar with the controls or knowing about combos and the like. As I said, Party Animals is the perfect game for Game Pass because of its accessible and fun nature, while being a game that wants you to experience it with friends, whether locally or online. Of course, the game will have some serious competition between Lies of P and Payday 3 for subscriptions, but regardless, this really looks like a game you don’t want to miss.
