The two parties to the conflict in Sudan announced an extension of their ceasefire on Thursday. The army and paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced a continuation at 72 hours from midnight. The ceasefire was brokered by the US and Saudi Arabia. The fighting broke out on April 15 in the course of a power struggle between the army and the RSF militia. At least 512 people have been killed since then.

In addition, almost 4,200 people were wounded and hospitals were destroyed, it said. Food distribution is restricted. A third of the 46 million inhabitants are dependent on humanitarian aid.
