“Particularly worrying information about the educational quality of reception”

The Vlaams Agentschap Opgroeien, a Flemish umbrella grouping various departments in the field of youth assistance, this week “as a matter of urgency” suspended its operating license for the Babilou crèche in Kraainem, following having received “very recently information particularly worrying regarding the educational quality of the reception”, indicated the agency Saturday in Belga, confirming information from the Mediahuis newspapers.

The operator of the establishment now has two months to remedy the breaches. Otherwise, his license may be withdrawn permanently.

The Flemish Expertise Center for Child Abuse has opened an investigation.

The Babilou crèche in Kraainem can accommodate 54 children. Parents and local authorities were notified on Thursday. The latter claim to “make every effort to offer a reception solution in the meantime”.

Babilou manages a total of 11 crèches in Brussels and Flanders. The licenses of other establishments are not threatened.
