The Municipality of Querétaro, through the Directorate for Animal Protection, Care and Control (DIPCCA) of the Secretariat of Public Services, awarded the 4th photography contest in favor of animal welfare, which aims to promote responsible ownership of pets.
“We seek to recognize the talent and creativity behind these images, but above all, we want to highlight the population’s commitment to animal welfare and continue promoting responsible ownership,” said Alejandra Haro de la Torre, secretary of Municipal Public Services, when reporting that 254 people participated in this edition, whom he congratulated for contributing to the construction of a fair city with the lives of those who have no voice.
The winners of the mobile category were: in third place, Rosalyn Herrera Castro; in second place, Luis Fernando Gómez Pérez; and first of all, Israel Araujo Lamas. In the digital camera category, the winners were: in third place, María José Ledesma; in second place, Hilda Mariana Corona; and first of all, Karen Valeria García Bosques. Meanwhile, in the children’s category the winners were: in third place, Victoria Valentina Aguillón Rico; in second place, Giselle Naomi Gómez Velázquez; and first of all, Ximena Zamora Rentería.
During the event, the director of the DIPCCA, Enrique Guerrero Rojas, mentioned the importance of citizen participation in this contest, since it becomes a spokesperson for animal welfare and responsible ownership; In addition, he reported that he has advised more than 15 municipalities in the state on what the Municipality of Querétaro does in favor of animal protection.
The award ceremony was held at the Cineteca Rosalío Solano, where 40 finalist works were exhibited, which addressed themes of responsible ownership, adoption and animals living on the street, and which from December 16 to January 16 they will be exhibited in Plaza La Victoria, followed by another month in Plaza Antea and then in Paseo Querétaro.
