There has been a plaque in St. Gilgen for years with the inscription “Welcome to Abersee”. This is more for decoration. Following demands from the population, there are now place-name signs on the Strobler site.
For years, the people of Aberse have been fighting on Strobler’s side to preserve their place name. Shortly before the local council elections on March 10th, the ÖVP made a concession. The “Abersee – Municipality of Strobl” signs that were promised in the summer of 2023 will now be put up. …
