Moscow. November 16. INTERFAX.RU – The collapse of part of a house occurred on Thursday in Astrakhan, reported Governor of the region Igor Babushkin in his Telegram channel.

“Operational services are on site,” he wrote.

By order of the governor, an operational headquarters was created at the scene of the emergency.

Babushkin also said that three temporary accommodation centers have been organized for residents of the house at schools 32, 37 and 4.

“The city’s emergency rescue center and rescuers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations have begun clearing out the rubble,” he wrote.

Emergency services told Interfax that a five-story building in Astrakhan partially collapsed.

“The 3rd and 4th entrances of a five-story building on Vokzalnaya Square have collapsed. There may be people under the rubble,” the emergency services said.

“The building has four entrances, 80 apartments. More than 200 people lived. Evacuation is underway,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

The cause of the collapse might have been a violation of the integrity of the supporting structures. “A massive crack was discovered on the outer wall of the house today. Two hours later, a collapse occurred. Violation of the integrity of the load-bearing structures is considered as the main cause of the incident,” the emergency services said.

Some people managed to leave the building.
