Vienna (PK) – The National Council will end its current session next Monday. The Federal Council meets in plenary sessions on Wednesday and Thursday to deal with the latest National Council decisions. The new President of the Federal Council, Claudia Arpa, gives her inaugural speech in the Chamber of States. The Federal Council’s EU Committee has also scheduled a meeting. President of the National Council Wolfgang Sobotka takes stock of the parliamentary year in a press conference.
Information on opening hours, guided tours and other Parliament offers during the non-conference periods can be found on the Parliament’s web portal. Due to maintenance work, the Demokratieikum Visitor Center and the Parliamentary Library will be closed from July 31 to August 5.

The 2022/23 National Council session ends. The free time lasts until September 12, 2023. During the free time, the National Council can be convened for special sessions or extraordinary meetings at any time. Committees such as the main committee meet permanently and can be convened at any time. For example, for advice or approval of regulations in the event of imminent danger. There is no free time for the representatives of the people in the Bundesrat. The regional chamber meets permanently and has no legislative periods. Balance sheets for the last session of the National Council can be found on the Parliament’s web portal.

In a press conference, the President of the National Council, Wolfgang Sobotka, takes stock of an eventful parliamentary year in which legislation has returned to the historic parliament building following around five years.
