Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri emphasizes Taif Agreement implementation and the need for dialogue in Lebanon

Today, Monday, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri received a delegation from the Editors’ Syndicate at the headquarters of the second presidency in Ain al-Tineh.

During the meeting, Berri assured the union, “Whoever thinks of a coup once morest the Taef Agreement, sits sane, the best for him.”

Berri pointed out that “Taif must first be implemented, starting with the Senate, administrative decentralization, and an election law outside the sectarian restriction.”

He pointed out that, “The two tents are on Lebanese land, and the international community must oblige Israel to implement Resolution 1701 and withdraw from the northern part of Ghajar, the Shebaa Farms, the Kfar Shuba hills, and point B1.”

And in the information of the “Lebanese Debate”, Speaker Berri “returned to confirming before the union delegation the nomination of the head of the Marada Movement, Suleiman Franjieh, and he is open to any proposal for dialogue proposed by Le Drian, but he refuses to internationalize the crisis and considers it a dangerous matter, indicating that he has no problem with the army commander, Joseph Aoun. However, his candidacy for the presidency requires a constitutional amendment, and consensus is not available today, and he indicated that he would not be an obstacle to this matter if it happened.
