Parkinson’s Day 2021: Join Us for the Twelfth Annual Information Event at Augusta Hospital

It comes insidiously and often develops over years: Parkinson’s is a chronic neurodegenerative disease that usually manifests itself between the ages of 60 and 80 through various symptoms. Although a cure is not yet possible, the disease is now one of the easily treatable neurological diseases.

In many patients, the symptoms of Parkinson’s can be treated effectively over a long period of time, so that an active and independent life is still possible.

Many lectures by experts

The team at Augustahospital Anholt is all the more pleased to be able to offer a diverse information event on Parkinson’s disease on September 2nd for the twelfth time and cordially invites those affected, their families and doctors to attend. Visitors can expect informative contributions on various everyday and practical topics.

“Swallowing disorders in Parkinson’s disease” – Virginia Wie-Ying Sun, Senior Physician of the Neurological Clinic 2 of the Augusta Hospital, will first report on this. This is followed by Anja Jung, Head of the Issel Nursing Service, with her lecture “Nursing services and outpatient offers – simply explained!”.

Exchange between those affected and their relatives

After a short break, Dr. Marius Humpert, medical director and chief physician of the neurological specialist clinic, the focus on “drug pumps as a therapy option for advanced Parkinson’s syndrome”. Afterwards, Maike von Oldenburg, neuropsychologist at the Augusta Hospital, will present the topic of “Psychological Counseling for Parkinson’s Disease”.

Information stands complete the program of events. Over a leisurely coffee, there is an opportunity for exchange between those affected and their relatives as well as with employees of the Augustahospital.

The free event will take place on Saturday, September 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Herzebocholt Citizens’ Hall (Bürgerhalle Herzebocholt, An der Kapelle 1, 46419 Isselburg), which is only a few kilometers away from the Augusta Hospital.
