Several parking guests in Friis Shoppingcenter’s parking garage were trapped in the basement on Saturday at noon.
This is confirmed by an employee at Friis Shoppingcenter’s parking call centre.
– We have had a number of inquiries from people who have felt that it has taken too long to get out of the parking garage. We don’t know exactly what might have happened. But it might, for example, be a car whose engine has stopped and thereby blocked the exit. We just don’t know yet, says the message from an employee at the call centre.
From one of the captured parking guests, Birgitte Knøsgaard, it sounds in a post on Facebook from around 2pm:
– Chaos in Frii’s Parking Garage. It’s going to be hours before we’re out. So far I’ve moved 10-15 meters since I checked out 35 minutes ago and right now I’m at -4 and we’re holding absolutely still.
She has been in contact with staff from Friis Shopping Center and from here it was reported that the long queues, which had formed over the course of more than an hour of problems getting out, were regarding to resolve themselves at 4.30 p.m., so people were once more might come out of the parking garage.
Nordjyllands Police have also received a number of inquiries regarding the problems at the parking garage.
– But it is a private parking garage, so there has been nothing police-related in the matter, says chief of duty Thomas Ottesen, North Jutland Police.
Center manager at Friis Shopping Center Niels Adolfsen tells nordjyske.dk that there have not really been any problems in the center as such.
– The problem arises at the light-regulated intersection just outside the centre. It only lets three or four cars through at a green light at a time. And that causes the queue to spread rapidly into the car park itself, says Niels Adolfsen.
