On the 28th, Rep. Park Kwang-on (3rd term, Suwon City Government, Gyeonggi) was elected as the new floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea. The new floor leader Park won the majority of support in the floor leader contest attended by 169 out of 170 members of the Democratic Party, defeating lawmakers Park Beom-gye (3rd term), Rep. Hong Ik-pyo (3rd term), and Kim Doo-gwan (re-elected). He ran for floor leader last year, but lost to Rep. Park Hong-geun. The Democratic Party did not release the number of votes each candidate received. Park said, “We have reconfirmed the strong will of the lawmakers to reform in the direction the people want,” and said, “I will start working to support that will.” He then said, “I will walk the path of winning unity together with all lawmakers.” (MBC) Representative Park Nae-nae, a former reporter, served as the spokesperson for Moon Jae-in’s presidential candidate during the 2012 presidential election and was called ‘Moon Jae-in’s mouth’, and in the last presidential election, Lee Nak-yeon served as the general manager of the former representative’s camp. He, who has had amicable relationships throughout due to his gentle personality, is known to have received support from non-Lee Jae-myeong families, including his parents and his parents, in this primary.
