A 21-year-old City police officer killed a 14-year-old alleged criminal and injured another 19-year-old when they intercepted him in an attempted robbery in Isidro Casanova, in the La Matanza district. The cash was detained due to excess of the legitimate amount, judicial sources informed Infobae.

The incident occurred at dawn on Saturday at the intersection of Alicante and Camino de Cintura streets, when the officer, in civilian clothes and returning to his home, was intercepted by two criminals who were traveling on a Honda Wave motorcycle. Although it emerged that one of them might have had a knife, while the other made gestures of possessing a firearm, Homicide prosecutor Adrián Arribas, on duty in La Matanza, determined that they did not possess weapons.

Upon approaching him, the Buenos Aires security force agent took out his Pietro Beretta 9 millimeter caliber weapon and shot at the criminals. One of the thieves, aged 14, died at the scene, while his accomplice was taken to Paroissien Hospital with gunshot wounds.

Judicial spokespersons confirmed that the teenager was shot in the chest, once in the foot and another in the back, while the young man who was with him was shot in one of his feet and is out of danger. Arribas requested his arrest for “attempted robbery,” the sources detailed.

The officer, who works at the Neighborhood Police Station 12C in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Villa Urquiza, testified before prosecutor Arribas, who following the investigation charged him with the crime of “excess in legitimate defense.”

“He gave his version of the events. He said that they wanted to rob him and one of them made a movement as if to take out a firearm and that for that reason he shot,” an investigator told Télam.

The arrest occurs ten days following the arrest of a group of police officers from Command Center, in Isidro Casanova following the murder of an alleged 27-year-old criminal, identified as Lucas Acosta, who was escaping in a Ford Eco Sport truck with a kidnapping request, in the San Alberto neighborhood. The officers who participated in the procedure had declared that the death of the thief occurred following a chase and confrontation.

However, the investigation by prosecutor Adrián Arribas, in charge of the La Matanza Homicide UFI, revealed that they had lied. The twist in the case was motivated by a security camera video. For Arribas, according to the images, the police planted a gun in the murdered man’s hand to simulate, precisely, a confrontation. Even upon seeing the security camera on a nearby post, several police officers formed a fan to hide the moment where the weapon was planted.

On the other hand, on January 11, a City police officer died following spending 42 days in a coma, following being shot by criminals in the same town of La Matanza. This is First Officer Fernando Ignacio Gómez Guzmán, who had entered the Paroissien hospital with a critical condition resulting from gunshot wounds. The agent was attacked by robbers while he was going to pick up his daughter for a birthday party.
