Paris Saint-Germain, the French Football League champion, announced on Friday an empty lineup of its star Kylian Mbappe For his preparatory tour in Asia, which begins on Saturday in Japan.

The contract of Mbappe (24 years old), who is of interest to Real Madrid, expires in June 2024, which means that he will then become a free player to move to any other club for free. But the Parisian club will not accept his departure for free and asked him to sign a new contract or agree to sell him this summer.

“Killian cannot leave for free,” said Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the Qatari president of Paris Saint-Germain, during the presentation of the new Spanish coach, Luis Enrique, at the beginning of the month, and set July 31 as a deadline for making the decision.

Staying in Saint-Germain until 2024 was “my only option”

Mbappe and those close to him stated, in a statement to the French News Agency, that the player informed the “club management in charge of extending the contract,” which was signed a year ago, as of “July 15, 2022, of his decision (not to extend beyond 2024).”

And in mid-June, Mbappe confirmed that “staying” in Saint-Germain was his only option. He said: “I have already answered, and said that my goal is to continue, to stay at the club, it is my only option.

Mbappe joined Paris Saint-Germain on a one-season loan from Monaco in August 2017, and the loan turned into a permanent deal worth €180m ($194m).
