During the Paralympic Games, traffic restrictions will resume on the Paris Ring Road from August 22, and dedicated lanes will be reserved for athletes and delegations.

During the Olympic Games (OG), traffic on roads, public transport and streets in Paris was generally smooth. It remains to be seen whether this dynamic will continue during the Paralympic Games, which take place during the back-to-school holiday period from August 28 to September 8. according to Transport in Île-de-France (IDFM) expects Parisian traffic to expect up to 300,000 spectators per day during the 11-day race – and has seen its fares increase by 15%.

As for the Olympics, traffic restrictions will be in place for the opening ceremony, limited to the area around the Champs-Elysées and Place de la Concorde, and around the competition venues, for the entire duration of the games. Certain areas will be closed to cars or pedestrians, and some metro and tram stations will be closed throughout the event, while other areas will slowly reopen in September.

These restrictions affect not only tourists and Paris residents, but also anyone who must travel to Paris for work or other reasons. We’ve listed below the main practical issues that arise via search tags.
