The list of the Chinese sports delegation for the 33rd Summer Olympic Games was announced on July 13. A total of 15 athletes from Hunan were selected for the Chinese sports delegation, and will participate in 8 major events and 18 minor events. The gold medal strength has increased compared with the previous session. Ten athletes are participating in the Olympics for the first time, most of whom are “post-00s” newcomers, and the youngest Zhou Yaqin is less than 19 years old. Luo Yuelong mentioned that the number of Hunan participants in this Olympics is second only to the 16 people in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. “In addition, five coaches from Hunan have been selected for the Chinese sports delegation, namely track and field coach Zhou Can, rock climbing coach Zhang Yanli, badminton coach Luo Yigang, gymnastics coach Chen Wei, and trampoline coach Li Lun.”
In this Olympics, Hunan has maintained good preparations in weightlifting, gymnastics, trampoline, badminton, synchronized swimming, wrestling, taekwondo, rock climbing and other events. Hunan’s rock climbing industry has formed a group advantage, while gymnastics and synchronized swimming are ready to take off

Changsha gymnast Zhang Boheng and trampoline athlete Yan Langyu from Liling, following entering the Paris Olympic cycle, have been steadily winning championships in the World Championships, Asian Games and other major competitions, occupying the main position in the event. The gymnastics youngster Zhou Yaqin from Nanyue, Hengyang is also ready to go.
Luo Zongshi, a female 57kg Taekwondo athlete from Hengyang, and Jia Yifan, a female doubles badminton athlete from Yiyang, are ranked first in the world in their respective events; the “water polo goddess” who became popular at the Tokyo Olympics – Yueyang girl Xiong Dunhan will usher in her third Olympic Games, and her teammate, Shaoyang girl Deng Zewen, is participating in the Olympics for the second time; there are also synchronized swimmer Zhang Yayi from Changsha and wrestler Pang Qianyu from Shaoshan, Xiangtan, who are also worth looking forward to.
