“When we arrived, it was almost empty,” Danica, a Slovak tourist who came to Versailles during the two Olympics, told Paris magazine new task: “We just came out of the castle and there were really few people there.” The castle currently has an average of 13,000 visitors a day, an unusually low number compared with the large number of visitors expected to watch the Olympic equestrian events on the castle grounds. There are currently fewer tourists in and around Paris than usual – unless they’re there for a competition.
