Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is preparing for any eventuality as the future of star striker Kylian Mbappé remains uncertain. Although the French club still hopes that the French world champion will extend his contract, alternatives are being considered in case Mbappé decides to leave at the end of the season.
PSG face a major challenge this season, keen to succeed in the Champions League following several failed attempts. The team underwent a major summer overhaul, with the departure of important players like Lionel Messi, Neymar and Marco Verratti. To carry out this new project, PSG appointed Luis Enrique, the former Spanish coach, and Kylian Mbappé remains the main star of the team. However, there is uncertainty surrounding his future beyond this season, as he has not yet agreed to extend his contract, which expires on June 30, 2024. The club fears he might leave at the end of the season on a free transfer.
In search of solutions, PSG is exploring other avenues on the market. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, one of these options is 24-year-old Portuguese striker Rafael Leao, currently under contract with AC Milan until June 30, 2028 following a recent renewal. Rafael Leao has already scored 3 goals and provided 4 assists in 12 official matches this season. Additionally, he has Ligue 1 experience from his time at Lille, where he scored 8 goals in 26 matches during the 2018-2019 season.
