After two blank years due to the health crisis, the major annual Parisian video game fair finally announces its return. See you in November 2022 for the 11th edition of Paris Games Week.
It had been since 2019 that the world of video games had not met for its little annual fall party on the side of the Porte de Versailles. Forced break which should finally end this year: Paris Games Week finally announces its big return for a new edition in November 2022.
This announcement confirms the shared desire of players in the video game industry to resume their habits in terms of fairs and large “physical” gatherings as they were practiced in the world before. Several other important industry meetings (with the admittedly very notable exception of E3) have already announced their return to 2022, such as the Game Developers Conference which was held from 21 to March 25 in San Francisco, or Gamescom which will once more take over the Koelnmesse from August 24 to 28.
Reviving following a missed 10th anniversary
For its part, the PGW, as its closest friends call it, had not missed any of its annual meetings since 2010, the year of its first edition, until 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic don’t come and play spoilsport. The cancellation of the 2020 edition in particular had been particularly cruel: not only would it have been the 10th anniversary edition, but above all, it should have accompanied the launch of the 9th generation consoles that are the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/Sand surf on the unprecedented public enthusiasm generated by these new machines.
It was not possible to catch up in 2021 either, as the situation was still too unstable last November to calmly consider holding an event bringing together several hundred thousand people in a single place. But the Union of Leisure Software Publishers (SELL), organizer of the event, seems confident regarding the prospects for the year to come, and therefore invites industry players and gamers to meet from November 2 to 6. 2022, still at the Porte de Versailles exhibition center. The ticket office will be open from June 15.
