Paris 2024: Tony Estanguet takes stock one year from the event

One year from the Paris 2024 Games, Tony Estanguet spoke at a press conference on Tuesday July 18. Sportsmarketing.fr was present at this stage organized in Saint-Denis at the headquarters of Paris 2024.

At the time of the home straight, the President of Paris 2024 accompanied by Etienne Thobois, Managing Director of Paris 2024, dealt with all the questions, including the most sensitive ones such as security or transport and insisted on its three main objectives: To be ready on July 26, 2024 to deliver the biggest event in the world, to mobilize the resources to make the project a reality, and to maintain the ambition until the end with creative, open and committed games.

100% of competition venues will be delivered in time for the Games. Paris 2024 will take possession of the sites on the dates scheduled: March 2024 for the Olympic and Paralympic village, April 2024 for the Olympic aquatic center and June 2024 for the Arena La Chapelle.

Regarding security, Tony Estanguet underlined the mobilization of all the actors and the coordination carried out with the public actors as well as the updating of the protocol made last June. There are also 3 waves of private security tenders and a “World Security briefing” on July 20 and 21, 2023. Regarding transportthe President of Paris 2024 made a distinction between the transport of accredited members (change of model validated by the IOC, secure individual buses and vehicles, secure Olympic and Paralympic routes) and the transport of spectators (validation of transport plans for sites in the Ile-de-France region, coordination of “Travel Demand Management” by the State, bicycle plan defined with public actors).

Other points and figures to remember:

96% of the overall budget of €4.4 billion comes from the private sector: €1.4 billion (Paris 2024 partners and licensees), €1.4 billion (ticketing, hospitality), €1.2 billion (CIO contribution), €0.2 billion (miscellaneous revenue: lotteries, catering, Rate Card), €0.2 billion (public competition for the Paralympic Games).

Partnerships: transition times are respected with €1 billion secured. Objective of 92% by the end of 2023. Already 22 new partners in 2023.

Ticketing and hospitality: 6.8 million tickets sold. Opening of the Paralympic ticket office on October 9. Spring 2024: opening of the resale platform.

Massive enthusiasm for the volunteer program: 45,000 volunteers and 312,000 applications
