SPORTMAG team athlete Flora Vautier was eliminated by Germany’s Sandra Mikolaschek (11-7, 13 -11, 12-10) in the quarter-finals of the table tennis singles competition at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
For Flora Wattier, the task is daunting. The SPORTMAG athlete challenged world number two Sandra Mikolascheck in the quarter-finals of the table tennis singles championship. At stake: a spot in the semifinals… and a new medal. The 19-year-old from Nimes had his sights set on that goal in front of a packed-out Paris Sud 4 stadium.
But in the first round, hierarchy was quickly respected. The Germans were in the lead and gave the French players few chances. Sandra Mikolascheck won the first round (11-7). The Germans still dominated in the second round, but Flora Vautier managed to react with force.
Promising level of play for the future
As the score progressed, athletes from SPORTMAG managed to tie the score to 11-11. However, in this decisive moment, the Germans had the final say (13-11). Now it’s time for round three. With her back to the wall, Flora Vautier did her best to stay alive in the game.
The French women’s team scored first, leading 6-4. Even if the Germans return to their original level, it is Flora Votier who is the first to set the score for herself. Missed chance: A few minutes later, Sandra Mikolascheck made her mark in the third round (12-10). Flora Votier therefore stopped in the quarter-finals of this singles competition. No medal…but high hopes for the future of the young French rider who beat the world’s second-ranked rider.
