MEXICO CITY.- The National Union of Parents of Families (UNPF) expressed its rejection of the appointment of Mario Delgado as the next holder of the Secretary of Public Education (SEP) in the government of the virtual president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum.
In their statement, they expressed that the current situation in education requires a more prepared profile at the head of the SEPhighlighting that some of the most serious problems are:
- More than six million children drop out of school
- More than 50% of infrastructure is deficient
- Bad educational policy that led to the illegality of textbooks and the improvisation of the 2023-2024 school year
- Lack of teacher training in the Mexican public sector
“The profile that a Secretary of Education must have is to be in line with the current demands of the educational emergency that our country is experiencing,” UNPF states in its press release.

The UNPF described the direction that Education would take in the future as “worrying and alarming”. Mexico “If the appropriate profiles and experience required to face the challenges and challenges are not presented, and in accordance with the criteria of continuous improvement, efficiency and effectiveness that the sector requires.”
Mario Delgado, current national leader of the party, is rejected Morenaconsidering him as someone who “has little experience and results in this area.”
They also emphasize that the principles of Article 3 of the Constitution must be respected, “which establishes a secular education.” […] free of partisan ideology and avoid the bias of public institutions that are the responsibility of those who collaborate in them, and provide the results that are the fruit of the public resources assigned for the specific purpose.”
