Ahead of release next Monday of Kim Geun-sik, who served 15 years on charges of sexually assaulting 11 minors, parent groups have urged parental groups to more thoroughly manage and supervise child sex offenders.
The Seoul Education Love Parents Association held a press conference today and said, “We strongly demand that the government more thoroughly supervise and protect our children, not only Jo Doo-soon and Lee Ki-hyung, who have already been released from prison, but also those who have hidden behind anonymity in blind spots.” .
They said, “Kim Geun-sik, who sexually assaulted 11 minors, including elementary school students in Gyeonggi-do and Incheon in 2006, is a ‘pedophile’ criminal who had previously served five years on charges of sexual assault on children. Just like in the past, I can’t help but feel anxious.”
“The only measures taken by the police, the Ministry of Justice, and local governments are for a special probation officer to identify Kim Geun-sik’s movement 24 hours a day, and five police officers to patrol around the house intensively,” he said. and criticized it.
However, he said, “We welcome the recent legislative notice of the Ministry of Justice newly establishing a ‘post-treatment protection system’ for child sex offenders and enacting a bill that significantly expands and strengthens the requirements and period of protection. Enact laws immediately.”
