(Ecofin Agency) – Paratus wants to improve its position in the broadband segment of the Botswana telecom market where it competes with Orange, Mascom and BTC. To this end, the company is increasing its investments in the reinforcement of its infrastructure.

Broadband connectivity provider Paratus Botswana, a subsidiary of Paratus Africa Group, said it has completed construction of its new metropolitan fiber optic network around the capital, Gaborone. The infrastructure is expected to ensure fully secure broadband connectivity to businesses and individuals in the region.

« Gaborone’s fiber optic metropolitan ring enables secure connectivity – and it is unique in that it is completely independent and fully protected. We provide enterprise customers with the network service they deserve and need, as it meets ever-increasing bandwidth and uptime requirements. said Shawn Bruwer, Managing Director of Paratus Botswana.

This initiative should promote the ambitions of the company which plans to double its revenues over the next five years by investing and deploying the best infrastructure to meet the demand for broadband connectivity on the continent.

In Botswana, Paratus is seeking to increase its market share in the broadband segment of the national telecom market, where it is battling with Orange, Mascom and BTC in particular. In March 2022, the company acquired its competitor Broadband Botswana Internet (BBi). It had already invested $6 million from 2019 to 2021 to develop its fiber optic infrastructure.
