LMonday, March 7, French snowboarder Cécile Hernandez, originally from the resort of Les Angles in the Pyrenees, won the gold medal at the Paralympic Games in Beijing (March 4-13) in snowboard cross. Suffering from multiple sclerosis, the 47-year-old athlete beat Canadian Lisa Dejong and American Brenna Huckaby.
Already world snowboard cross champion in Lillehammer at the start of the year, Cécile Hernandez won her first Paralympic title in Beijing following several medals in Pyeongchang (2018) and Sochi (2014). France is now fifth in the medal standings (four, including two gold) at these Paralympic Games.
