Paraguayan won gold medal in Brazil and positioned himself as number 1 in the world ranking in Jiu-Jitsu

Asuncion, IP Agency.- Paraguay had its representatives at the recent Grand Slam Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro sporting event, held at the Carioca Arena 1, Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. On this occasion, Paraguayan athlete Sergio Villasanti won a gold medal, placing himself number 1 in the AJP world ranking in his blue belt category, master 3.

Villasanti, 42, is coming off winning the AJP (Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro) in Gramado, Brazil, and the AJP in Asunción, and is preparing for the Grand World Championships to be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, next November.

The president of the Paraguayan Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation, Lionel Bareiro, told our media that “it is the largest event in South America in terms of competitive Jiu Jitsu.” He also highlighted that, for the second consecutive year, Paraguay has won gold medals in this championship.

The Abu Dhabi Jiu Jitsu Pro event is an innovative sports organization, which was created to revolutionize Jiu-Jitsu competitions worldwide.

Other Paraguayan athletes who won gold medals at the Rio de Janeiro Grand Slam were José Cardozo and Jorge David Amarilla with the red sash; while Daniel Benítez won a silver medal with the blue sash. All of them are athletes from the Gracie Barra Academy.
