Business Development Centers SBDC Paraguay

There are currently 278 SBDC Centers installed in 24 countries around the world, including Paraguay, generating more than 6,000 companies and 23,000 jobs through their operation, as well as increasing sales and formalizing the assisted companies.

There are three Business Development Centers operating in Paraguay thanks to the support of USAID and TaiwanICDF partners. The SBDCs are located in Central, Itapúa and Alto Paraná, with plans to expand to other departments, so that national MSMEs can have greater access to these centers, which provide support and technical assistance.

The creation of these SBDC Development Centers seeks to develop the capacity of the Government of Paraguay to promote a new model of support for the development of small businesses.

The Vice Minister of MSMEs, Gustavo Giménez, commented on the efforts carried out by the Vice Ministry of MSMEs to position and strengthen this economic sector, simplifying the formalization process and offering credit options with state guarantees.

“We want to provide a significant market for MSMEs, since the State is the largest buyer in Paraguay, reserving 20% of the market for them,” he said.

He stressed that 16% of the financial system’s portfolio is allocated to MSMEs, and that 70% of these companies do not have a bank account. “We are working with the Central Bank to facilitate the opening of bank accounts electronically, promoting financial inclusion,” he said.
