Paraguayan cyclists stand out in international competitions

Asunción, IP Agency.-A couple of brilliant performances on the demanding international scene earned him the Paraguayan pedal sport.

On the one hand, in the BMX modality it collected a series of medals in the Latin American BMX RACE Cup (rounds 7 and 8 held in Buenos Aires), in multiple categories, positioning the country for the first time at the top of the regional ranking.

In round 7, Paraguay showed off with three gold medals. The young promise Alice Hanh dominated the 16 years category, while Sofia Danilova was crowned in the 17-24 years category. In addition, the talented Baltazar Eraso took gold in the balance category, showing an outstanding level.

Round 8 was no less outstanding. Alice Hanh returned to the podium, this time with the gold medal in the 13-16 years category, and Sofia Danilova secured the silver medal in her category, 17-24 years.

These results had a direct impact on the Latin American ranking, where Paraguay is now in a privileged position. Alice Hanh, with her excellent performance, achieved a historic feat by taking first place in the 13-16 years category, placing third in the 16 years category.

Sofía Danilova is in second place in the 17-24 years category, while Baltazar Eraso leads his category in balance, consolidating his position as one of the best in this discipline.

In the Junior men’s category he also had a notable participation, with Dominik Thiessen in seventh place, Héctor Jara in eighth and Marcos Harder in ninth, demonstrating the potential that Paraguay has in this discipline at the youth level.

These achievements add to the great management at the 2024 South American MTB Championship, held in Balcarce, Argentina. The Paraguayan delegation obtained a great harvest of medals, consolidating its position among the powers of the region in this demanding discipline.

One of the most exciting moments of the championship was the impressive victory of Lucas Bogado in the XCE (Eliminator) mode in the Elite category. In a race that required not only speed, but also great strategy and endurance, Bogado achieved an epic comeback in the final kilometers, overtaking his competitors and crossing the finish line to win the gold medal.

Young talent also shone with Sindy Servín, who won the silver medal in the XCO (Olympic Cross Country) modality in the Under-23/Elite category. Servin demonstrated her great technique and physical strength on a challenging circuit, standing out among the best cyclists on the continent. This achievement reaffirmed his upward trajectory and revealed his great future in international MTB.

Also in teams, the Paraguay team, made up of Vinicius Bortoloso, Elías Armoa, Biran Woronieski (he stood out with the fastest lap) and Sindy Servín, won a bronze medal. Woronieski’s 15:10 surpassed the times of riders from powerhouses such as Argentina and Chile, which was key to securing the podium. The Tribune.
