Paraguayan barbecue is still the best in South America

Asuncion, IP Agency.- Despite not having had the same success in Belgium, where it ranked 11th worldwide, Paraguay remains among the top 18 in the world for the production of roast beef. As for roast chicken, it ranks fifth worldwide.

The Barbakua team competed in the competition in Stuttgart, Germany, on July 27 and 28, where 106 other competitors from different countries competed. The winner was the host, Germany. However, Paraguay remains the best positioned among the South American countries.

The grilling group is made up of Jimmy Benitez, Richard Gini (team captain), André Magon, Frank Smith and Maik Flaming. Other Latin American competitors were Bolivia, Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Mexico and Panama. In this edition, the absence of Argentina and Uruguay was noted, who were surpassed by the Paraguayans in the previous competition. The first places went to Germany, Austria and Belgium. The first Latin American team is Paraguay. In 20th place was Chile.

The European barbecue style is different from that of Latin Americans, and especially from our region (southern Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina and Uruguay). The Europeans had the advantage of having much more equipment than the South Americans.

Also competing on another team was Paraguayan Leyzman Salim, ambassador for Latin America of the World Barbecue Associationthe organizing entity of the World Championship Barbecue 2024, World Barbecue Championship. Paraguayan Helga Pfings Salim, certified by the WBQA, participated as a judge. Also present as an observer was Paraguayan grill master Negro Riveros, head of the Paraguayan Association of Grill Masters Teeté.
