Asuncion, IP Agency.- Authorities from the Ministry of Labor of Paraguay shared with their counterparts from Ecuador the country’s experience in the approval of Law No. 6339/19, on Part-Time Employment, its regulations, and the ratification of Convention 175 of the International Labor Organization on part-time work. It was during the virtual meeting held this Friday.
The interest comes at a time when Ecuador is studying the regulation of part-time jobs.
The Deputy Minister for Employment, Verónica López, explained that the regulation of part-time work was the result of a process of reflection and social dialogue developed by the Government, together with business and trade union organisations, which was agreed upon through the Tripartite Advisory Council.
He also highlighted the coordinated action with the Social Security Institute to adapt the conditions of access to social security and the opening of access to formal employment for young people and domestic workers.
On this point, the Undersecretary of State recalled that one of the reasons for the approval of the law and the ratification of Convention 175 by the National Congress was the need to formalize 129,000 young people who were working part-time.
The Director General of Social Security, Alejandra Garcete, the Director General of Planning, Joryan Rossati, and the Director of International Standards, Gustavo Villalba, also participated in the virtual meeting, explaining the steps that Paraguay followed to approve the regulations.
