Asuncion, IP Agency.- “Mechanical and architectural modifications in animal bones after irradiation with fast neutrons” is the title of the work by a Paraguayan, to be published in the prestigious scientific journal Health Physics. It will appear in the August issue of the journal, recognized as the most important in the world in terms of radiation protection.
The article titled in English: “Mechanical and Architectural Changes in Animal Bone Following Fast Neutron Irradiation” (Galiano E, Liu J, Ren B, and Xu, P. Health Phys. 127 (2): 298-305, 2024), belongs to the member of the Board of Directors of the Radiological and Nuclear Regulatory Authority (ARRN), Dr. Eduardo Galiano.
The paper summarizes the results of three years of research analyzing the effects of fast neutron irradiation on the mechanical properties of cortical bone. This study is the fruit of a collaboration with two graduate students from McMaster University in Canada, whose theses were supervised by Galiano.
