Asuncion, IP Agency.-The Paraguayan women’s handball team over 37 had a spectacular performance, winning the title undefeated in the continental tournament for the Copa América for women in the masters category. The championship took place between Thursday and Sunday at the modern San Juan Convention Center in Puerto Rico.
In the last match, they defeated the Uruguayan team in the gold medal final by 20 to 7. The red and white team, knowing their potential, already had a glimpse of conquering first place after the first stage in which they exercised clear hegemony in the game and went to the break with a clear difference of twelve goals to three.
Although in the second half the champion team stopped the great offensive pressure that led them to make a big difference in the partial, they again surpassed the partial of the stage and rounded off a resounding victory over the Charrúas.
With four consecutive victories, the Paraguayan team won the tournament held in the city of San Juan, Puerto Rico from start to finish. Along the way, they left behind strong teams such as Chile and Brazil in the group stage and the local team from Puerto Rico in the semi-final.
On Thursday, in its debut, the Paraguayan team beat Uruguay by 18 points to 5. In the second round, held on Friday, it beat Brazil by 15 to 8. The third duel was favorable by 20 to 11 over the local Puerto Rican team. And the cycle was closed with another resounding victory over Uruguay in the final, by 20 to 7.
In total, the national team scored 73 goals and conceded just 31, with a difference of +42 in their favour in a spectacular campaign that exceeded all expectations.
