Paraguay receives 1,000 scholarships for training SMEs in e-commerce

Asuncion, IP Agency.- During the development of the event called eCommerce Day, the Vice Minister of MSMEs, Gustavo Giménez announced that the eCommerce Institute delivered 1,000 scholarships to Paraguay for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, for training in one of its programs.

This is an unprecedented collaboration valued at approximately USD 250,000 each, which means a total of USD 2,500,000 in training and courses aimed at helping micro-enterprises take advantage of all digital tools and learn how the world of e-commerce works.

The announcement was accompanied by Marcos Pueyrredon, Co-Founder & Global Executive SVP, VTEX and President of eCommerce Institute.

“This is extremely important because we want to present some success stories of SMEs and entrepreneurs who have taken this intensive training course next year, and that this allows them to either start a new business or strengthen the business they already had, thanks to the new knowledge they have acquired,” he said.

Targeting the female sector

Giménez said that, from now on, they will begin the process to evaluate how the selection system for the 1,000 scholarship recipients will be, evaluating the guidelines taking into account that the database includes 366,000 micro-enterprises.

She revealed that there is a lot of interest in having women as the beneficiaries, knowing that the level of implementation or continuity that the female sector has is higher than that of men, so it would be an excellent initiative to prioritize them.

“But clearly this is a tool that will help us to ensure that at least 1,000 people can receive first-class training, with international experts and with a format that the eCommerce Institute is providing as an opportunity for Paraguay,” he said.
