Paraguay Leads the Charge: A Beacon of Sustainable Ambition in a Rapidly Evolving Energy Landscape

Asunción, IP Agency.- The Vice Minister of Mines and Energy of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications, Mauricio Bejarano, participated in the ministerial meeting of the G20 Working Group on Energy Transitions, in Foz de Iguazú, Brazil, where he reaffirmed the country’s commitment to the energy transition.

In this regard, the senior official highlighted that, although Paraguay is a leader in renewable energy generation, it is also committed to diversifying its energy matrix using its natural resources for the production of electricity.

“We are committed to the energy transition, which is reflected in our energy balance. Renewable electrical energy is assuming an increasingly relevant role in our matrix,” stated the vice minister.

Likewise, he mentioned that Paraguay is exploring the use of biomass for energy purposes and promoting the production of biofuels, with the aim of reducing the consumption of petroleum derivatives, reported the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC).

“As a country, we are committed to the energy transition, advancing not only in our energy policy, but also in concrete actions towards a more sustainable future for the planet,” he concluded.

This Working Group, which includes the European Union and 19 industrialized nations, brings together ministers, leaders and experts from around the world to debate and propose policies related to the energy transition.
