Asuncion, IP Agency.- The progress of the “National Green Hydrogen Strategy” was presented yesterday, during a meeting of Paraguayan government authorities and international experts, at the headquarters of the Inter-American Development Bank. The strategy seeks to create a sustainable and competitive framework for the production of green hydrogen in Paraguay, promoting innovation, investment and partnerships in the energy sector.
This event, organized by the Vice Ministry of Mines and Energy with the support of the IDB, marks a milestone in the country’s energy policy.
The event was attended by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Javier Giménez; the Vice Minister of Mines and Energy of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications, Mauricio Bejarano; the President of the National Electricity Administration, Félix Sosa; as well as the representative of the IDB in Paraguay, Alonso Chaverri and the Vice Minister of the Investment and Export Network, Rodrigo Maluff Díaz, among other participants.
This initiative places Paraguay at the forefront of the energy transition in Latin America, with the potential to attract significant investments and generate new opportunities for sustainable economic development.
The presentation addressed the main aspects of the strategy, the progress achieved to date, as well as the pillars of work and lines of action; in addition to the internal use of hydrogen, economic development and good practices in regulation, governance and regulatory framework.
Experts from Deloitte Advisory Spain, the consulting firm selected to develop the strategy, presented their analysis and recommendations based on market studies and global trends.

The meeting concluded with an analysis of Paraguay’s specific challenges and opportunities in this emerging sector.
The authorities pledged to continue developing the strategy, focusing on overcoming identified obstacles and capitalizing on the country’s comparative advantages.
