Paraglider pilot (60) and passenger (10) died during tandem flight in Tyrol

A tandem pilot (60) from Austria and a girl (10) from Germany were killed in a tandem paragliding accident in Tyrol on Sunday afternoon. Shortly after takeoff, the two encountered turbulence north of the Choralpe in the municipality of Westendorf in the Kitzbühel district and crashed into a young forest and then to the ground. According to the police, the two were so badly injured by the impact that they died at the scene of the accident.

German crashed in Sillian

A plane crash in East Tyrol also ended fatally: A 55-year-old German woman died in a paragliding accident in the municipality of Sillian on Sunday afternoon. According to police, the 55-year-old encountered turbulence in her paraglider above the Parggenspitze in Sillianberg at around 1:22 p.m. and fell to the ground in a spiral from a distance of around 100 meters. There she hit the ground with full force and lay motionless. The woman died despite first aid measures being initiated, police said.
