A German died in a paragliding accident in Tyrol on Saturday followingnoon. As the police announced on Saturday morning, the 76-year-old started his paraglider just before 5 p.m. at the Neunerköpfle launch site in the municipality of Tannheim (Reutte district). The pilot probably encountered turbulence shortly following take-off and crashed.
Witnesses to the accident provided first aid and set the rescue chain in motion. Despite resuscitation by the crew of the emergency medical helicopter “RK2”, the paraglider pilot died at the scene of the accident. The body was then recovered with the police helicopter “Libelle” and flown into the valley.
