End time
(Melodic Death Metal | Heavy Metal)
Label: DIY
Format: (LP)
Release: 18.11.2023
With the combination of melodic death metal and the state of Norway, I expect at least something creative or at least heavier fare than is offered on average in the genre and the latter is on the debut of PARADOGMATA with the title “Endetid”, which means something like “end times”, which is correct according to the title. Let’s find out together how creative and innovative the newcomers from Trondheim are on their debut.
And yes, the material is heavy, rough, raw and direct, but also spiced up with a good portion of traditional heavy metal somewhere between the iron maidens and the diamond king. So of course the whole thing is creative, but how well does it work? In any case, despite the rough approach, the somewhat muddier production and the fat extreme metal elements, the guys always manage to score points with their numerous ideas and experiments. So you quickly forgive the Norwegians that not everything works in perfect harmony and that some ideas don’t quite work out.
The mix of death, thrash and the aforementioned traditional heavy metal elements is just fun. Be it the solemn, with traditionally pounding HM rhythms, rattling bass and some surprising choirs in the direction of THERION or the opulent post-black meets 80s metal epic, which clocks in at eight minutes, or the dark, menacing rattling and slightly thrashy ” Seven Curses For The Deathly Pale” – the potential of these ambitious Northmen is definitely noticeable in every composition and gives hope for real masterpieces in the future.
