Paolo F., 34, charged with involuntary bodily injury and manslaughter following the terrible collision in Strépy-Bracquegnies (6 dead and around 30 injured, including 10 seriously) was able to receive visitors this Wednesday at Tournai prison where he has been incarcerated since 1 a.m. Tuesday. His father and his mother came to see him in the morning, in the visitation room. The meeting lasted approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
We are told that unlike a prisoner like Dutroux or a terrorist for example, Paolo is not separated from the other prisoners, he is not in a special regime. “He can go to the courtyard with the other prisoners but he has not yet been there”.
His lawyer Me Frank Discepoli should visit him this Thursday, following consulting the file. On Friday, the accused will appear before the Chamber of the Council of Tournai, which will decide to release him or extend his detention for a month. The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Mons will ask for his continued detention.
