The file of Paolo Falzone, the driver imprisoned within the framework of the drama of Strépy-Bracquegnies, passes in front of the council chamber of Tournai this Friday. The defense, represented by Mr. Frank Discepoli, should not ask for the release of his client, as he had done during the first hearing, a month ago. The preventive detention of Paolo F. had thus been extended on March 25 for a period of one month.
As a reminder, on March 20, the vehicle driven by Paolo Falzone had hit the crowd in the early morning, during a collection organized on the occasion of the carnival of Strépy-Bracquegnies, killing six people and injuring around thirty others. .
He is being prosecuted for manslaughter and involuntary bodily harm resulting in death in the context of a road accident. The Council Chamber must determine whether Paolo remains incarcerated or not.
Here are the images of Paolo this Friday:
Not on drugs
We already knew that the driver had consumed alcohol at the time of the incident. The alcohol test carried out by the police immediately following the accident revealed that the Paolo Falzone had a blood alcohol level slightly above the legal limit.
As for the saliva test intended to give an indication of a possible consumption of narcotics, it had proved negative. However, it was necessary to wait for the results of the blood tests, supposed to determine with certainty whether or not the driver had taken drugs. According to what our colleagues from RTL announced on Thursday evening, the tests carried out by the investigators showed that the driver was not under the influence of narcotics.
