If it’s “Do you understand fun?” If there is something to celebrate, then Paola Felix (71) should not be missing as an ambassador of good mood. Last night Barbara Schöneberger (48) premiered as the moderator of the cult loading show. And was promptly tricked by the charming woman from St. Gallen – her husband Kurt Felix (1941-2012) mightn’t have done it any better. Schöneberger was on tour as a singer, and suddenly everything got out of hand during one performance. First, a viewer from the audience chained himself to the new presenter. And then there was a fake TV ballet. Finally, Paola came over, dissolved everything and welcomed the newcomer to the “Do you understand fun?” family.
«Barbara Schöneberger is the ideal moderator for ‘Do you understand fun?’. A cheerful nature who understands fun and brings it perfectly to the screen with her wonderfully cheerful nature, »says Paola Felix to Sunday’s view.
1990 Farewell to the limelight
One felt immediately: Paola Felix as the surprise of the evening – that is still very well received by the Germans. And that despite the fact that Paola had already retired in 1990. As a singer, she has never recorded a record since and has not toured once more.
It’s also been a few years since she started “Do you understand fun?” stood in front of the camera with her husband Kurt Felix. The two moderated the show from 1983 to 1990. To this day, the two are cult.
A number of people said, “You know, kidding?” moderated later – Harald Schmidt (64) from 1992, followed by Dieter Hallervorden (1996 to 1997) and Cherno Jobatey (1998 to 2002). Frank Elstner (79) went back to the basic concept until he handed over the show to Guido Cantz (50) in 2009.
When asked who her favorite predecessors were, Schöneberger said in an interview: “For me it’s Paola and Kurt Felix.” When she thinks back to the show, she sees Paola in front of her “in a great 80s glitter fumble”.
Closed to my heart
Paola Felix returns the ball. “I had a very nice encounter with Barbara three years ago when she presented the ‘Big Paola and Kurt Felix Evening’ for ARD with Hubertus Meyer-Burckhardt. I’ve taken them to my heart,” she says. “She enthusiastically told me how much she always looked forward to our show as a child. It’s great that we’ve come full circle.”
She likes to think back to the “Do you understand fun?” shows with her Kurt, says Paola. «For almost a decade we were always guests in the parlor of the audience. I still often hear the sentence: ‹I grew up with your show.›» People would probably just love the memories of that time when families sat together in front of the television on Saturday evenings.
And once once more she emphasizes: “There will be no comeback.” It’s something else when she’s invited to anniversary shows – like last year’s “50 years of the ZDF hit parade”. “I’d be happy to help. I loved my job, that was my life.”
